Hey, ev'ryone! Just finished this 1 hour before my Pro trial ran out. :P

So, this is a world created by my bro (airboy1999 or Emperor A-Man) and I and, technically Seb, although he didn't actively help; he just made the awesome ships. (THANK YOU SEB!)

Here are the screenshots:

Seb's Sky Monster crashed; credit to Achilles for the idea!Sky King crashing; credit to Achilles.Sky King crashed.Sky Shark taking off.The Raceway. The Sky King almost completely sunk.
The Sky Shark docked at the Raceway.

A few features:
-Sky King #2 performs an 18 minute dual crash cycle; in other words, it crashes, disappears underground, crashes elsewhere, disappears, and cycles.
-Sky Shark flies down to the track and back to the Sky King #1 every 5 minutes. Before leaving the Sky King #1 each time, it gives an audio announcement of its departure. (Web Player Only)
-Really cool in-ground racetrack.
-Dormant volcano.
-Crashed Sky Monster

airboy1999 did the volcano and most terrain; I did the animations and the track.

Enjoy!

The world will be down temporarily until further notice. Fixing issues.

AWESOME!!!!!!!  One problem, could you make the ride faster from the sky king to the race track?  The takeoff and landing are fine, just the ride.

how about you put a back on the cruisers?

Array Re: Space Race: A world collaboration
you would have to ask me that question anyway.....

and btw the Sky Cruiser is meant to be called the Sky Shark... basically i had only just finished it when i sent the Sky King to Aubrey(it was the last thing added to the Sky King) and i hadn't given it a name at that stage

The way to fix the pushing against the wall is to get Aubrey to implement Newton's 1st law of motion.

Umm, actually, the problem IS Newton's first law. The buggy is at rest, so it wants to stay at rest. The thing that Aubrey needs to generate is friction. Friction can only be created by the buggy's wheels, so unless the buggy is moving, the terrain will not actually have any friction. This would be why moveable objects (such as some of the candy on DVO's Candy Mountain) can slide along the ground without grinding to a halt. If you've ever been to Gub's world Polar Drilling, you can land on top of the drill. It'll spin, but you won't spin with it, becuase the moving object has no friction. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the problem.

Yes, but once the buggy starts moving, it will continue moving at a constant velocity unless acted upon by an external force. The problem is that the buggy doesn't continue moving, and requires a wall to continue to push it. After the buggy gains enough velocity to match the flying Sky King, it should be able to move around inside as if the Sky King were not moving, but it doesn't. That is the problem.

The easiest way is to parent the vehicle to the Sky Shark upon entry, and un-parent it on exit. It works surprisingly well. You can drive around just like if you were on solid ground. I have the script(s) complete, but I don't know if they'll work because I'm not sure what the vehicles are called in-game. (I need to know their names for the script(s) to work.) I someone can tell me this, please do!

P.S. No offense, but I'm pretty sure both of you aren't 100% correct; it also has to do with the fact there is no air pressure. But BOTH of you are partially correct; Once the ship gains speed, theoretically the buggy should move at a constant velocity, but with lack of friction, this doesn't work. The lack of air pressure has a little to do with it as well. (95% sure, at least!)

From the screenshots, it looks EPIC
just one thing: have you tested out the lag factor? With three sky kings, a cruiser that moves and a sky shark, things could get messy.
Ok, I'm sorry I have another thing: The world DOESNT WORK!!! I'm uber uber excited to try it out, but it's kinda hard when the link is broken. I know you said that it's down, but other people have been reviewing it, so I'm assuming it's supposed to be back up now...
besides that I like it

PS Where'd you get the sky king from? Is there a post with a model download link or something?

Sorry, ffroggy, but until I get ALL the glitches out, it'll be offline. I'll let you know when it's back up.

Have you considered what would happen when the Sky King sinks into the terrain and what would happen if you were inside?

Scripts included while trying to package the Whirld will not work in Mars Explorer or Synth; there is no support for scripting at the moment (not sure if there will be any time soon). I don't see why you would need the name of the collider or need to set the name of the gameObject in order to prevent it from sliding around. Making the Sky King's collider convex and a trigger and attaching a script that applies relative force to all gameObjects with rigidbody components inside the trigger should suffice.

hmm looks like the Sky King's navigation system failed....

better work on a newer Sky King to fix that problem.....

New Sky Shark is done
New Sky Monster is close to being done
New Sky King is just in my head

interesting world idea

Great idea with the transport and the announcement!

It's very annoying that these don't work in game, but I think that aubrey could include something that would make this work in the whirld package. Maybe it could be like what your scripts do, but it works with the game. Also, it could't happen in the game because the animation cycle isn't synced. That's another thing Aubrey needs to fix.

I think it would be cool if a bunch of people gathered together to make a really awesome world. Maybe if I get less busy I could organize something like that... :)

Good world!

He means to make a really cool world.
That would actually be nice though, but it would take a lot of work.
PB was doing this with his Community World.

Too dark! Please lighten? Seb make a terrific world Mars Ruins but it's rarely used IMO because it's so hard to see there.

It's your world of course though I speak based on how few players use Mars Ruins despite it's unique design and extremely challenging terrain. And please, the "This is Mars" and "This isn't Mars" thing is so over with. I'm not always a fan of pleasing the masses but if I made a world, I would want the maximum anmount of players to enjoy it.

i discovered something about sinking sky king! if you are in there when it is sinking, it causes a 0 gravity affect!

that's because you are "falling"
a bit like a parabola in a plane in which you are falling slower than the plane is causing a zero gravity effect
