Space Cadet Training - Essential for Survival!
Have you ever thought about training as a Space Cadet? Have you ever dreamed about adventure in the stars - full of excitement and exotic places? Do you ever marvel at the skill of members of ACC, or the building prowess of certain Greek spacers? Well, you could do this, with a risk-free trip to the new GAIA I!
Gaia I was built above Mars to train beginning level Cadets to face all challenges and begin the art of buggy-driving. A new, shiny space station, built with the latest bubble-field technology, and Cesanogen-Tritium metal alloys, Gaia I boasts 6 mini training centers, and 4 R&R Observation platforms. New engineering of multi-airlocks allow any type of small shuttle-type spaceship to dock with any of the 2 large docking arms, and personal vehicles to fly right up to the 2 observation platform junctions.
Training Course:
Day 1:
1. Arrival at Gaia 1!
2. Brief introduction at an observation platform. (Platform to be used is dependent on your Group ID: Please refer to your schedule)
3. Meeting at the Purple Dome. (Color is denoted by stripes on the metal-alloy floor.)
4. Your first buggy! Cadets receive buggies for training!
5. Crash-course in buggy piloting.
6. Obstacle training in Yellow Dome.
7. Terrain navigation in Blue Dome.
8. Obstacle + Terrain navigation with limited sight distance in Green Dome.
9. Hazardous Terrain training in Red Dome.
10. Nowhere to Hide: Beach training in Ocean Dome.
11. Departure to Orbital Lodging Facilities.
Day 2:
1. Arrival!
2. Aerial Training: Flying for beginners! Meet in Purple Dome.
3. Aerial Obstacle Dodging in Yellow Dome.
4. Off-Road tips and flying over a terrain in Blue Dome.
5. Flying through terrain obstacles in Green Dome.
6. Into the Volcano in Red Dome.
7. Recap in Ocean Dome.
8. Rest and observe in Observation Platforms.
9. Review: Final Test preparations.
RULES FOR FINAL TEST:
a) Entire Gaia 1 space station are the boundries.
b) No going past airlocks; No entering spaceships.
c) Only buggies allowed.
d) Display what has been taught. DO NOT do anything that has not been approved by instructors.
e) Show your skills!
10. Final Test!
11. Graduation and Recommendation for future training.
12. Departure.

Thank you for taking the initiative to train newcomers. Totoro, I thought you were jesting about exporting this when you showed it to me a month ago. And the embedment of mini worlds is pretty sweet! Oh and I am quite interested in your export method from SketchUp.

Yes, I really like the mini terrain worlds, except their resolution has to be an extremely low number to prevent lag.
As for my sketchup export method, I don't remember. It could be:
1. Export to Collada, then to Blender, then as an fbx to Unity.
More likely: 2. Used mah sketchup pro trial to export directly to Unity through .FBX format.
I just keep the sketchup pro trial around, and only use it to export.

If you want to export it, so it can be added to Syn3h, I would be happy to send you the file for export!
I do also plan on making updates, not to this station, but maybe to a Gaia II, for training other vehicles.

I was gonna add this to the Repo, but then I realized it was a Web file... Don't worry its in the "Prototype" Section. And to think, I was crying the other day because I couldn't be eligible for an educational license of Modo.

kk, Just PM me the file and I will export it ASAP. One suggestion though:
Maybe scaling the whole world up a bit would make it a better training place because there would be more room for flying.

When I try the web player, it says "fatal error" and "stopped" and "click here for more details" when i click on it, i have to force quit safari. I'm using a mac running on 10.6.3 Snow leopard.
Oh and Great world! Could you give me some tips for sketchup pro?

The demo is exported in Unity 2.6: Your webplayer might be a older version of the 3.0 webplayer and is not backwards compatible.

A perfect world. Although, its hard to dogfight in the terrains. I think you should make the ceilings a little higher to fix that.
Overall, it is the ideal world. With a little bit of particles in it too, you could flash it up.

who would want to go on to a radioactive space station? Tritium is an isotope of hydrogen and is radioactive. It makes a appealing sound, but not so appealing effects when you are suffering from radiation poisoning and cancers. nice idea though.
P.S. Tritium is an isotope of hydrogen and Hydrogen IS NOT A METAL so an alloy with tritium IS PHYSICALLY AND CHEMICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. just saying....

FYI, I know what Tritium is because of studying the LHC in Europe. I must say, though, I forgot it was radioactive. O_o
Good point about the alloy thing, too. I didn't expect that anyone would catch my erroneous use of an existing substance. I just thought it sounded cool...
And, hey, who says I can't smash an unstable isotope of Hydrogen with a made-up metallic compound to magically create a substance to withstand the rigors of the Vacuum, although that is deviating from the definition of 'alloy.'
Maybe I should change it to Protium-Cesanogen compound instead... Will have to think about it for Gaia II considering radioactivity and the fact that Tritium's half-life is somewhere around 12 years is bad for business.

The design was originally my idea, but the bubbles with terrains inside is actually an Achilles idea, for the unreleased third version of his space arena.

I think people forget that this is a game. Suspend disbelief for crying out loud, this isn't sci-fi. It's just fi. I mean really, does he have to go research nasa used transparent space-age alloys in order for the world to become acceptable? You should start attacking the fact that our vehicles have no driver in them, or that the lava is translucent.
