Who: my 19-year-old brother and I
What: a discussion on period drama films
When: a few minutes ago
Where: on the sofa in the basement
Why: I have no idea
Alex: "You know the girl who played Jane in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice?
Me: "ummhmm."
Alex: "And you know that one lady in...oh, what's it called...you know!  The movie with Stallwood and Rick?"
Me: "Stallwood and Rick?????  Umm...do you mean Roger and Osborne Hamley in Wives and Daughters?!"
Alex: "Yeah, that's it!!  Well, anyway, you know the lady that..."
Me: *insert hysterical laughter here*  "Stttaalllwood and *hahahaha* Rick?!?!?!
Alex: "Well, you knew who I meant." *grin*
The sad thing is, I did guess who he was talking about.  He makes up names when he can't think of the real ones.  Apparently, I'm used to it:}
But, Stallwood and Rick?!
The End.
P.S.  Someday I'll have to tell y'all what Alex thinks happened when Mr. Darcy finally found Mr. Wickham and Lydia in London.  They don't show that part in any of the movies, so he's made up his own story.   It is highly amusing and involves a fistfight in which Mr. Wickham is ejected through a (shut) window into the street.  It gets better from there...but I'll spare you the rest;)

So, which does that delightfully imaginative individual deem most fitted as Stallwood, and which Rick?
Oh my, I'm sitting here guffawing in the most undignified fashion now. . . :D
Also, I'm dying to know what satirical statements were dispensed to the girl who played Jane - as well as that one lady in the movie with Stallwood and Rick. . .
P.S. Oh yes.  And who exactly takes part in that London-set fistfight?  Lydia and Wickham, perchance?

He says Stallwood is Osborne and Rick is Roger. =D
That's about what I was doing - I laughed so hard I was crying;)
I think he was thinking that they were played by the same person (the lady in the movie with Stallwood and Rick that he was talking about was Lady Harriet), but I'm pretty sure they weren't.
I do know that he thinks Lady Harriet's haircut towards the end of the film wasn't very flattering...I completely agree with him there;)
Love you,
P.S. Actually, it was a fistfight between Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham...possibly ending with Mr. Darcy turning Lydia over his knee and giving her a well deserved spanking.  I told him that he needs to write the story down so I can share it;)

Ah ha. . . just as I thought.  Quite fitting, indeed. =)
Actually, Alex is right - both characters were played by Rosamund Pike.  I only wish I could see his look of smug satisfaction when you inform him of that fact. :D
Ug.  Her hair is awful, plain and simple!  I can't imagine what possessed someone to allow a character in a period film to have a head of hair like that. . .
P.S. Yes, that scenario was inferred by your previous statement - I just thought there was such "scope for the imagination" in the latter course of Lydia and Wickham, flying at each other's throats in a London hostel, and Darcy looking on the while in scornful indignation, only pausing his righteous wrath to let slip a fleeting smile as Wickham sails out the {closed} window, his coattails flying one way and his top hat the other. . . a potted geranium joining him in the dust outside...
At any rate, I'm sure Alex will do full credit to the story. . . ;D

Hmm, well she certainly looks better as Jane!
Um, am I going to inform him of that fact? ;D
I think that hairstyle was a period hairstyle, actually.  Shocking, isn't it?!
P.S. That scenario has a certain charm to it...although it might end with Wickham strangling Lydia - he was already sick and tired of her before they got married.
A potted geranium ;)
I'm sure he will:)

About Lady Harriet's perfectly dreadful hairstyle--I just about died when I saw it--but yes, it is correct for the era! :-O
But it's actually a "hair-hat"--a sort of wig, I guess. Still, I thought it looked like something out of the 1980's. :-P Ugh.
You two are hillarious! (Stallwood and Rick...ooh-ha! :-D) And it would be very entertaining to read your brother's scenario. You and he sound a lot like my Bro and me.
We have quotable conversations frequently (only last week Bro blurted this gem after watching Superman (the old one with Christopher Reeve): "Well, you have to remember this is about as hard[-core] SciFi as the inside of a Twinkie." LOL!), and we love playing "Connections" with different actors. Movie nights at our house are frequently interrupted with happy cries of, "Hey! It's So-and-So!" :-P.
God bless,

I liked Lady Harriet's hairstyle before she got it cut, but afterwards...well, I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped as I stared in shock;)  lol.  Definitely a terrible hairstyle.
Is it just you and your brother, or do you have other siblings?
My brother and I are pretty close since there's only the two of us and we have a lot of fun together:)
We'll have entire conversations consisting entirely of movie lines!  Sometimes we'll start quoting lines from a movie from beginning to end, just to see how far we can make it before we can't remember what comes next;)
Ha, we totally do that, too!  "Hey, isn't that the same guy who was in..."  It's so much fun when you see a familiar face in a movie:)
In Christ,

It's just Bro and me. Some people have said we're like twins because we have all these little in-jokes and secret looks that trigger them, LOL. (But I never heard of twins being two and a half years apart!)

I've always said that Alex and I were meant to be twins, but my brother and I are about 2 1/2 years apart, too:)  Yep, we have our share of jokes and looks;)
Are you the oldest, or is your brother older?  I'm the oldest:)

I LOVE MR. DARCY!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad to hear that he (in Alex's addition to Jane Austin's versian) bested Mr. Wickham=)

Alex is pretty good about watching movies like that with me.  And, if he doesn't like it, he just leaves the room;)  I usually watch them in my room, too, unless I'm watching them with mom.
lol.  I really need to have Alex write his addition down;)  Maybe he'll even illustrate it=)
