Snow last night.  The whole world is clean and bright again!  And as I write, a few more flakes are gently swirling down on top of their comrades to make the world lovely.

Well, these past two weeks have been amazing, almost overwhelming, for me.  So many things happened, my head is still whirling!  My mother injured her hip, and although it is healing wonderfully, there is still a lot of pain.  Please keep her in prayer.  That was the main event, accompanied by myriads of other smaller, but nonetheless important happenings clamoring for my attention.
All that aside, I am so glad I decided to have this little event dubbed "Yuletide Farmgirl Festival"!  I wanted to create some way to celebrate the spirit of the Farmgirl, and to introduce her to those to who she is still unknown.  She is latent, in varying degrees, in all of us.  It is the desire to hold fast the the ways of our Fathers, to value truth, and to uplift and honor old-fashioned, Godly womanhood that makes, to me, the definition of a Farmgirl.  She is absolutely feminine, and though she may not always be seen driving a tractor (though if that's the place God has her, she'll probably do it with relish), she understands the basic need to follow God's plan for living, choosing to depend on Him and use the resources He provides rather than following the man-made and dependent lifestyle that the world upholds.  And this is why she may be found not only on a farm, but anywhere!

I had no idea when I first started as to what would come of it, but went ahead by faith, as it were, trusting that it might be an encouragement to a few.  I had plans for all kinds of things to share during the festival that never came to realization - wonderful things, that were to bless and inspire you all.  I still have plans to share those things in the future, but for now. . . I've been humbled.  I'm the one who was blessed.  Inspired.  Encouraged.
I'm so thankful to each one of you who happened across this little corner of the blogosphere and took the time to share.  You all made this little event so much fun!  And though it didn't unfold just as I planned, due to unforeseen circumstances, I am reminded that when one gives God complete control, anything that seems to be a disappointment is in reality a wonderful gift.  It all depends on how you go about unwrapping it.

~ Now, for the announcement! ~

I've been working on an exciting project for my online store that includes scanning in a set of vintage homemaking manuals I acquired at a yard sale last summer.  Well, I am happy to be able to relate that the first of these adorable e-booklets, "How to Prepare and Serve a Meal; and Interior Decoration" is complete, and not only that,
but will be awarded as the festival prize!
This 62 page manual, penned in 1922, includes helpful information on such subjects as what to include at the polite breakfast, afternoon teas, carving hints, form, color, and proportion regarding interior decoration, and so much more!  Wether you want to plan a correct formal dinner, gain historical insight into the colorful world of 1920, or merely peruse a chapter or two to enjoy the quaintly dated writing style, I know you'll love this booklet!  As a disclaimer, I will state that one short chapter covers the correct manner of serving various alcoholic beverages.

Now, I have stated that finalists would be selected from each category, from which a winner would be voted on from each.  Well, in the light that a few categories would be rather difficult to select finalists from, ;) as well as to show my gratitude to you all, I have decided to award one copy of this lovely manual to each entrant!

If you have any comments or suggestions regarding this decision, just let me know and I will be happy to discuss it with you.

Remember, the festival, as well as the giveaway, will be open until tomorrow at midnight, PST, so there's still time to get in on the fun!

Merry Christmas, and blessings to you all!
~Kellie~
