So, I really miss the old lava. You know, the orange, translucent, actually made of lava, lava?
From 1.9.8-2.1?

The lava in 2.22 is, well, water. It also looks kinda dark and depressing.

I just wondered if any other players felt this way, (provided they do) if the old lava could be brought back in Syn3h, or at least be a server option?

I just thought it was time I posted something about this XD

So anyway, what do you think about the lava?
Before (My preferred lava)After (So dark...)

Perhaps the effects of 2.2, but the color of 2.1

I liked 2.1's lava. It was perfect, effects and all. Maybe leave the effects of the current lava in the water (like in Unity Island) as is, but change lava back to 2.1, just a thought.

I like the refraction effect on the new lava, but I completely agree that it's too dark now, and I'd give up special effects for the old stuff.

Hopefully everyone else agrees too, and syn3h might end up with *REAL LAVA.*

I think that the older lava is way too bright, while the new lava is way too dark. A in-between is what I'd like to see.

I agree. There needs to be a compromise. The benefits of the new lava are distortion effects, and a real looking bumpmap. There needs to be something in between these two.

I think that would have to be the old lava's texture, but the bumpiness of the new lava and the distortion effects of the new lava.

I actually like the non distorted, unrealistic lava :P

Maybe it could be a server setting?

Perhaps veins of light and dark mixed? It would look similar to real lava then.

i disagree. it is the same to me.

i would actually prefer LAVA that actually GLOWS. like the lava in 1.7 - 1.9

just my opinion. that lava is better.

Although I was unable to play it when it came out, it works for me now, and I must say...

2.1 WAS PERFECT :O

if only we had 2.1 with whirld features...

I think that it should be the bright color of the old lava but the wave effects of the new lava.

I say again; the old lava was PERFECT just the way it was. It needs no changes. I know I at least want the old lava back. It was fun without the effects.

I think this would be very cool. :)

In whirld, developers DO have some choice in what shaders get used, but when it comes to lava, that choice is gone.

I, personally, would appreciate it if Aubrey would allow us custom shaders, and materials on our lava. This, in combination with a release of the old lava shader -- If he still has it, would be just what we need.

I think you can find all of the assets for the old lava in the *old* Mars Explorer unity project.

I totally agree that the old lava was better.

I have never played in 2.1 or lower but the lava does look way better in the older version. It actually seems real.

Um.. Unity 3.3 has this new wave system that I know Aubrey tried with the Syn3h B2. The concept seemed nice but it was too glitchy.

I could go either way, both types look okay (though the new lava COULD be a little less liquidy).
