My newest world. (updated)

Hello again! After working quite hard on my map, I gave it a nice overhaul which it needed. It now is about 70% done and is furnished with pine trees, rocks, new water, and a waterfall (which I am especially proud of).

Please ignore the red line slicing through some of the pictures as it is a raycast gizmo I hadn't the time to remove.

Enjoy!

Hello everyone, Achilles here! This is my first "world" post in a while as I have been busy doing many important things.

This world is not close to completion - only about 20% - 30% complete I estimate; I plan on adding some modo/sketchup models into this world.

Also, this world has ugly water (so don't judge my world based on the water) as I do not have Unity Pro anymore.

Enjoy!

Looks awesome!

The only thing I would do is vary the textures a bit more, especially on the cliffs.

Btw, how big is it? *edit* FIRST COMMENT

I like it!
Ithink that maybe you should make a second island, which you could make a bridge to, like a old house stone one

Nice world!  Would like some trees, the valley looks a bit, plain.  Also with the river in the valley, do you think you could add a water fall?  Like Freestyle?  And maybe some ice...  It also would be cool if you added a dam.

For the sake of the visonaries, why not develop the plateau with buildings?

Really good Achilles, but its a little original. I mean, make something special. You did Achilles chess, make movable objects in this one too.

I really like it a lot, but No buildings! I think you should make another Island too. I also think trees would be cool.

I like it, but i don't like is that the river just stops at the cliff face. Why not make a waterfall or something of the sort?

Looks pretty natural, but vary textures more.

Changing around the opacity of textures helps for a layered look.

What happened to your Unity 3D Professional (Unity Pro)?

The thing I was talking about in HA chat was the Unity "Terrain Toolkit". It automatically generates different types of terrains. This map was PARTIALLY made using the Terrain Toolkit; I used the Toolkit to color the map based on the height of certain hills and mountains (i.e. mountain peaks can be auto colored snow and the lowest levels of the map (the beach) can be colored sand). The terrain itself was all done [painstakingly] by hand.

I hope this clears any misunderstanding.

Its so awesome! Looks like a scene out of Yellowstone...:D Technically, its even awesome enough as it is, but it'll be interesting to see how you spice it up.

Wow!  The processor drain is nonexistent, even on an old laptop, and the graphics are near Halo 1, which is a huge thing considering this is in a browser.  The level design is great, also.

Unfortunately I am not able to export this world as I do not have Unity Pro. Once I'm done I'll have to do as many of you have been doing; sending it to Aubrey or GTR to export. I'll let you know the custom world link once this world is complete.

Well, not directly, you gotta make 'em somewhere else and import 'em

Or you could use cubes, but thats just unprofessional.

I personally would use blender meta shapes for that.

Using Blender in general would work just fine. So would any modelling program. So would being really clever and original with the terrain tools.

Wow achilles it looks AWESOME....you're pretty good! Is this with sketchup or unity3d?
I would add a little more texture to the cliffs, and maybe make a path along the side (about halfway up) in certain areas (fun!)

Your waterfall is great, trees are p-e-r-f-e-c-t!

I like the overhaul. And I agree with kruncher. Although I tested your world in your game, I think a path up the cliff would be nice. Not very good but kinda hits the basics.

Thanks Geek for the picture of switchbacks. So many worlds are being designed with no driving access to the top of high terrain.

Please consider all vehicles' limitations when designing worlds folks.

Also, eventually there will be a sub which I assume will be able to view ocean floors. Some consideration to underwater terrain seems appropriate.
