I refuse to play 2.23, not because of the ad.'s, I understand why those are there.

The content of the ad.'s is why I refuse to play 2.23,
they are appalling, and below anything I would expect for a family game, and Plexpedia itself.

Advertisement for Spicy pictures, teen-hook up sites, hot videos, and "hot" phone lines.
I will not, and never will play a game with advertisements like that on a Family game,
I just can not.

I'll be in 2.22, where it's clean, and classy.

Nope I don't think so. NOW we have ADS in between the server list!? Where has mars come to? Wait, it's not even mars anymore! Why can't we just leave well enough alone and stop "improving" IT! MARS was better off left alone! We don't need any more fancy shmanchy worlds!!! This is why I don't really play this "game" anymore.

When you stumble across a prerelease version, you are more than welcome to check it out!
You must keep in mind though that there is a very good reason why I haven't yet announced it: it is not ready to go live.

Due to Mars Explorer's phenomenal growth of late, I am facing huge bandwidth bills...
Since I am not quite ready yet to transition to the Syn3h identity and release a paid version of the game, and I certainly don't want to abandon it, the decision for me to spice up the lobby with some nonobtrusive textual ads was a pretty easy one :)

The 2.23 version up now includes all the technology I wrote to integrate with the AdBright network for ad delivery, but I am currently defining all the advertising filters. So essentially, the ads you may see now are just a "proof of concept", and should have very little in common with they type of ads that will be displayed once 2.23 is ready for release.

The most compelling aspect of the advertising system I am implementing is that it provides a very easy and effective mechanism for anyone to bid directly on ad space inside Mars Explorer through a cpm or "dedicated airtime" approach, which should be a lot of fun!

Also, I am working right now on a tweak to the networking system I have just discovered that may enable me to catapult dedicated servers back into the limelight and banish the "no connection" problem for good... No guarantees though :)

Aubrey,

Are you suggest that Syn3h will have to be purchased in order to play it?
If so, how much are you planning on making it, and will updates to it be free once you have purchased one App.?

No - I never said that :)

I do eventually plan to allow people to pay a bit for to access to special features though (Lots of ideas here - cooler name badges, exclusive access to special forum and future beta releases, more advanced Whirld caching for instant game joining, etc.).

Are you saying that you would rather have to pay for something more important?

I don't want to pay at all.
But I do sympathize with Aubrey, multiplayer games can cause huge bandwidth bills.

Okay, could we PLEASE stop posting releases that aren't even supposed to be released yet?!  Seriously, if you THINK if the thing you found is a beta of the next version, then you probably should ASK AUBREY and make sure IT IS OKAY if you post about it, not just ask everybody on Mars and then by the time u figure it out it's too late to keep it under wraps!!!  You don't even know if it's completely finished yet and won't be crazy glitchy!  Please, just flippin' THINK before you do things publicly.  I know I've screwed up big time by going public without thinkin'.

Um, am I the only person the link doesn't work for?  I can understand ads, but not just a pay for play thing, especially not subscription... Will anyone PLEASE post the link?

You're right... It appears that Aubrey's taken 2.23 offline for awhile, for whatever reason.

Oh, well! Let's head to 2.22, everyone!
