Nutcrackers.

They're...neat.

They crack nuts...well, they're supposed to.  Have you ever tried to crack a nut using a nutcracker?

Unless you want to break your nutcracker, I wouldn't advise it.  Trust me, I know. I've tried it.  And I have a broken nutcracker.  Actually, it's Alex's broken nutcracker...apparently I thought through the experiment quite thoroughly before I tried it, and was unwilling to sacrifice my own nutcracker for the cause of science.

In fact, isn't that what happens to the nutcracker in the book/movie/ballet, The Nutcracker?  Someone uses him to crack a nut, but cracks the poor fellow's "jaw" instead?  I think that's what happens, but I can't quite remember...

Well, I'm very pleased to say that I shall have the delightful experience of refreshing my memory this Saturday.  Yes, my family and I are going to see a performance of The Nutcracker!

And that's not even the best part.  I'll not only be seeing and hearing the glorious ballet, but I'll be seeing my wonderful Grandma Barb and Aunt Liz from California!

And, to make it even better, my lovely and extremely talented cousin, Hailey, will be performing the leading role of Clara!

Hailey is absolutely thrilled - it's not every day you get to be Clara in The Nutcracker!   Hailey wants to be a professional ballerina, and her dance instructor says she's got the talent to do it.   I don't know much about ballet, but Hailey is so graceful...I know she is and will be a wonderful ballerina.

Thankfully the weather is cooperating, or else we wouldn't be able to make the drive to Montana because of road conditions.

Please pray for our safe travel.  I'll, hopefully, have a ton of pictures to share when I get back=)

Three of our nutcrackers - the green fellow in the back is the one I {tried} to crack a nut with.  He's also misplaced his shoes and the feet that go in them, assuming he had feet to begin with...hmm, so has the tall guy on the left.  The intact blue one in the front is mine=)  Isn't he a handsome nutcracker?  My Grandma Barb and Grandpa Cliff gave him and his green brother to Alex and I a long long time ago when they took us to a performance of The Nutcracker.  Fond memories...

Happy Trails, y'all!
