So i watched a live preformance of the post-hardcore band Underoath the other day. Its a christian band, but i enjoy their music and not their message.

Funny thing happened between 2 songs. One of their singers said that the sole reason they where on this stage was because of jesus christ. And that god had helped them through drugs, alcohol abuse and depression. And i thought "HA! suckers... They fell for that one did they?"

Turning to god as the reason why you get through such things is just mind-staggering. So they couldn't do it on their own? Trust me there's a lot of us that did just that.

It sounds like they didn't really kick their addictions - they just traded drugs and alcohol for the original "opiate of the masses."

my point was that so many people get into religion because of something bad, like a personal tragedy etc. It just seems like people when searching comfort in something better they fall in line towards the easy answers instead of actually fixing it or reflecting over it themselves. And the parallel to creation from this would be that you accept and adopt the easy answer that requires you to do nothing and knowing nothing. You're happy with the easy answers that might sound good, but doesn't really mean anything.

Also been there, done that. Not religious tho. I find knowledge and insight in everything about life makes religion obsolete. Same thought about creation VS science. Creation went obsolete 150 years ago, why consider it still to this day? Easy ignorant stupid does not equal right or true.
