How abouts a special animation for when your vehicle hit the lava? ie. a slash or ripple effect. and maybe some constant waves? or is that too hard? just wondering.

Yes, i know its on the future page, i was just seeing if its still in design or not.

Avi,

Now that Aubrey has Unity Pro, it's very possible to do that.
Waves when your buggy hits the water would be neat to watch, perhaps a tidal wave effect when your buggy goes headlong into the water.

Maybe some reaction to lasers hitting water as well?
the ideas are limitless!

It would be really cool, but in order to allow that another problem must be fixed.  Due to the fact that all maps are streamed from a remote server,  the maps become very slow and the frame rate drops to below 5 when opperating on fantastuc quality.  Once the maps become part of the downloadable game package,  the maps can not get more graphicly complex.  I am often running on the fast or simple modes even with a highspeed internet connection.

I dont know if im the only one so please correct me if i am wrong.

I do not think that it is the internet, it is most likely your computer, is it old?
If it is not old, than I have no idea what the problem is,

Game quality is a result of a combination of things:

internet connection speed (test yours here for free)

ping time (test ping here for free)  There is good info at this site about how ping affects gaming.

processor speed

graphics card

how full your hard drive is

RAM

computer cleanliness, that's right, cleanliness. Get "De-gunking your mac" from the library for an expert tutorial on this subject.

Other applications you run while on Mars. facebook, myspace, iTunes, Pandora, etc. can affect your frame rate. Best to run only Mars be it widget, browser or native application. If browser, close all other tabs to give your computer it's best chance to run Mars graphics especially when hosting.

BTW - Most internet providers call the connection they sell you "high speed" which can range from 1 1/2 megabits per second to 12 or more. One company calls 4 megabits "blazing" which it is not and a two and a half year old macbook is not old unless it's poorly maintained. Please stop this guessing game.

I believe that the next update will be the "Syn3h Update", and so it will be a major update and take a while. He did promise a beta within a month some time ago but I think it's already late.
