I have a song in one of my old piano books called "A Super Special Sorta Day".  I have no idea what the song sounds like, because I've never played it.  When we got to that book in my lessons, I flat out refused to play a song with such a dumb, uninspiring, lame title.

My teacher, Mrs. Davis, was very lenient (too lenient, perhaps), and didn't make me learn it.  In this particular case, I don't think it much mattered.  Any song with a name that lame, does not deserve to be played, in my opinion:)  However, I kind of wish that Mrs. Davis had been a bit more strict with me.  If my memory serves me correctly, the things she let me get away with were simply horrendous!  I honestly can't think of another piano teacher who would have let me get away with not play "A Super Special Sorta Song".  After all, she was the teacher, I was the student, right?

On the other hand, I learned a lot from Mrs. Davis.  She was very encouraging, and she encouraged me to play the kind of music I wanted to play.  Which is probably why she wasn't too worried about "A Super etc."   She understood that I just wasn't interested in the theory aspect of music.  It is not my goal to be a concert pianist, therefore, I do not see the need for theory.

I can play fairly well by ear (most of my family on my mom's side can), and one of my favorite things to do is to print out the words for a song off of NetHymnal, pick out the song on the piano, and then embellish it.  I've just recently started doing that, so I'm not very good at it yet, but it's a lot of fun:)

Music is just wonderful=)

Hmm, I'm not really sure how I got on this subject, actually...  I was just using the title of the song for the title of my post, when my mind started wandering...oh well:)  Hopefully, you've enjoyed my ramblings, and hopefully they made sense...=)

My original intention was to post a few pictures from today.
Nothing spectacular.  It was just a nice, quiet day at home.

Mr. Potato Head =)

Mr. Adam Rooster

Bonnie and I were enjoying the beautiful weather we had today while sitting in my favorite haunt, which I call Cartlain craigs.  I love the book, The Scottish Chiefs:)  The craigs is basically a hill/cliff, with plenty of mossy rocks, overlooking our lower pasture.  The only way to access it, is to climb a really steep hill (well, there is another way, but it's a secret, shhhh!;)

I like to go there when I want to be alone and think...or if it's rainy and misty and I'm in a particularly Scottish mood:)
Bonnie discovered a centipede while we were there today:)

Later, Mom, Alex and I spent some time in the shade by the creek.

I love our swing:)

Adam is a very sociable rooster.  He follows me almost everywhere.  Quite often, I have to run till I'm out of his sight, to keep him from following me:)
Today, he followed us to the creek, and hung out with us for a while.  At least he's a nice rooster:)

Happy Trails!

Aw, I love #5, of you on the swing. What a nice peaceful spot :)

Hehee...I know my teacher is too lenient with me sometimes. But usually only when I've struggled through a song for weeks, and though it's still not good, she lets me move on. But she can be pretty tough at times, too :)

Mrs. Davis was very lenient, but I loved her.  I learned so much from her, and she was very understanding.  She taught me everything she knew, which was more than enough to enable me to continuing learning on my own.

No, I haven't seen her for at least a year...maybe longer!   We used to see her more often when she worked at Michael's.
