the Juggernaut(or landmaster) was a tank-like idea i had. imagine if you will, a battle-ready vehicle that cannot access lava streams or fly, BUT can fire a laser that completly sends a person spiriling out or INTO the sky, homing missle, and MINES. Standard controls, basic laser-mines. Sniping laser-missle. Space bar-laser. it would be extremely slow, and be VERY tough to knock over. You would only fire the laser every five minutes. about the same size as the Sea Monster.

as aubrey has stated, this game is not for destructive weapons. the lasers are only ment to play friendly games of tag with. mines, missles, and homing missles would basically turn this game into a flat out war game and ruin the whole point of it. so, thumbs down on your idea

FAQ  ------------> Commonly Asked  -------------->

Why aren't there destructive weapons - like bombs, landmines, rockets, and flamethrowers?

Mars Explorer isn't about destruction at all. The current lasers are not weapons ("a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage") - they are simply an extension to the basic gameplay model that increases Mars Explorer's strategic value by allowing players to tag one another from a distance. Mars Explorer may receive more options for remotley tagging other players in the future, but you can rest assured that they won't involve excessive violence.

This idea is too tanklike and has destructive weapons. I do think there should be a type of non destructive laser mine that, when planted, will sit there until it senses a vehicle moving over it, then shoots a laser upwards so that it tags the vehicle that ran over it. This would be useful for causing vehicles chasing you to crash, or for creating a protective minefield around your flag for capture the flag, etc.

Five minutes? I'm sorry, but that's a downright terrible idea.

This Vehicle has an exagerated, major, extreme, explosive diarrhea of firepower.

"sniping laser missile" sounds like the rpg-7 with scope configuration to me.

"laser mines" yay, let's fill the whole map with land mines so i get every single point....

"homing missile" well, durr i have bad aim, so i'll get the homing missile to do the rest for me....

"spacebar laser" Ladies and jelly beans, to add to our explosive diarrhea of firepower....

"Very tough to knock over" 'cause i can't control a buggy from flipping over, i'll use this so it won't flip over 400 times in a minute!

Well, we could make it less powerful by making it a huge target, slow, only 1 laser mine on the map at all times, and the tracking stuff would take wide turns and would be easily avoidable; he said the spacebar laser could be fired only once every 5 minuites.

How about a point laser? It uses up points to be used. For instance, 1 point equals one second of firing.

there is already a way to kinda have laser mines. just turn down the laser speed all the way and they get left behind you and anyone who goes behind you or if you go in front of them gets tagged. and, as i stated in my first comment on this post, there will be no destructive weapons in this game and the idea stinks.

As people have said, putting in all this firepower would make the game into a war, and take out the fun. Its like playing chess where the players shoot at you. Kind of.

If you made it smaller, less firepower, no homing missles, no landmines, and more speed, its kind of ok, but then its almost the same as the buggy except for the fact that it doesnt fly and has legs. If you can design this vehicle i will be impressed.

OK Look. The tank is ruining almost every potentially sporting game on Mars Explorer already due to it's massive firepower. I'm not talking about just hogging quarry. I'm talking about at least one tank in every game chewing everyone up regardless of quarry.

I am concerned that new, potentially fun people are either being turned off from Mars Explorer by a tank blasting them silly, or they are now becoming Tank Noobs themselves, ruining the fun by blasting everyone.

So, I say BLECH! to this Juggernaut and BLECH! to any and all requests for massive-mega-weapons!

A balanced and fun environment could be re-established on Mars Explorer by reducing the tank's weaponry to equal the other vehicles. Otherwise, tanks remain unavailable in mine and a few other player's "vintage" quarry-oriented games.

to fight a tank, use a hover, which isnt knocked around as much as the buggy.

The point isnt to fight a tank, its to fight other buggies who you want to fight. You cant 'win' against a tank by any means.

It might be nice if there was less firepower for the tank, but it would then need to have a way to avoid lasers. They're pretty slow, and the extra firepower is to make it less impossible to keep quarry for more than several seconds.

I say let's try the tank with equal weaponry first to see if it needs anything. The reason some of us discourage sit and shoot is because sitting is actually more of an advantage than moving. Let's not go worrying about poor, little tanky just yet.
