Farewell, cloners!

The key feature of (just uploaded) 1.9.3 is a completley integrated player authentication system.

If you want to play as a guest, you can enter any name you'd like (just as before).

But now, you can enter your MarsXPLR.com account info in the game - and all your friends will know that it's really you they are playing with!
Any usernames that look like "Name (Account Name)" are registered users.
My name looks like "Aubrey (admin)".

Other features include:
  • Main list interface has been enhanced a bit to compliment all the new authentication stuff.
  • Bots are now instantiated as the same vehicle type that the server host is commanding at the time they are added. Try using this to add a bunch of tank, hovercraft, and buggy bots to a game in Foxholes - it's really fun!
  • Slightly adjusted tank physics. (Springs are a bit softer, and track engine torque curves are a bit smoother)
  • The buggy flies

{Please let me know if you experience any difficulty authenticating your MarsXPLR.com accounts - there may be some of you who have strange characters in your names that I will need to fix}

i have a few questions...for the sake of testing the system, i put in my name and then my password, it worked. i did my name and no password, the server i was previously playing on was gone, and a new one appeared. i entered my password again, the old server was back, the new one was gone, i repeated a few times asking if the others i was playing entered passwords as well. is it like a separate place for people with and without passwords or is something just messed up?

i think found the problem...when i join with out a passcode, i join set A, with a passcode, i join set B. set A being people who do not have accounts, set B being people that do. if i am in set A i cannot join servers in set B and vice versa. if anyone wants exact details just ask. Aubrey, can this be changed?

Ya, I have a problem, my name(pb&j)has a special character in it(&). It will not let me enter special characters. Do I just put a seven instead? My password does also...

Enhanced version uploaded:

  • Special chars in usernames should no longer be a problem (Thanks Spiffy!)
  • Guests and authenticated users should both be able to play together (Thanks babag!)
    (there was a slight bug that caused guests to have the secret code "{code}" by default - making them invisible to anyoine but each other)
  • Registered users who don't have "real names" are displayed as "(Username)" instead of "Username (Username)". Just looks a bit better.
