I would like to start a post here where we can share some tips and hints on how to improve our gameplay as a group. If anything comes to mind pertaining to certain moves, methods, or styles in which you play that help you hold the quarry longer and get more hits on opponents, please do share here for everyone!

To start off, ill list a few of the biggest things that helped me get to the top:

-Never stay still, it's too risky. Always be moving.
-Shoot quickly and with an awareness of where your vehicle is going. If you're shooting in aim and shoot mode, make sure your vehicle isn't sailing into the ground or water!
-Long range. Yes, work on a long range game. If you're farther away, you can see better where the quarry is headed and not only does it appear to move more slowly (because of your distance from it) but it also makes it easier to keep from being hit back. Improving your sniping from long range is essential if you want to be able to pop the quarry at any time.
-Lead your shots... Depending on the server host, the laser speed may differ. Some host a game where the lasers are so fast that you can aim directly at a moving quarry and it instantly reaches it. Others like slower lasers which tend to fall behind the moving quarry because it moves slower than the target. Try to figure out what speed the laser is moving at in comparison to the quarry, and compensate by aiming and shooting in front of the quarry, suspecting it will drive right into your laser. This is very beneficial for close range dogfights, and can be very helpful when trying to get accustomed to different host's lasers speeds.
-Wings... Yes, if you don't want to be such a big target, fold up the wings on your buggy, and you will free fall. It's a much smaller target for opponents. Also, just before hitting the ground, pop out your wings again and you will gain high speed from the fall, allowing you to suddenly swoosh away as the opponent aims, thinking you're going to hit the ground.
-Undulate. When flying a buggy, always use the up and down keys to "pump" the power of your flight. With practice, you can get quite good at gaining speed quickly.
-Versatility. You should practice on flyclub's maps where there are structures to weave in a out of. The opponent as little hope of shooting down a quarry who is sailing between posts and under objects. If you're a versatile a flyer, the opponent won't have as much opportunity to tag you.
-Power shot. When you need that extra fast and extra hard laser to tag your prey, use the red laser by holding the power laser button down when you shoot. This will be a faster and more accurate laser for those long range snipes where you need to ensure you will hit the quarry. I advise using this only when the quarry is stationary, because it can be very difficult to aim it properly at high speeds. Only a few of us have mastered it.
-Deception. Sounds bad, works great. Try to stay behind the opponent so that they can't see you as they fly. They will have to enter the aim and shoot mode which will take away their attention from driving, giving you a chance to tag them before they get you.
-Finally, if your game lags and its hard to get a a good shot off, check your FPS in the settings, because if you put it down lower than high res, you can get a smoother gameplay and it will be easier to play.

Best wishes, and I hope this helps some of the new players and senior members alike! Please share any tips you have as well!

The explanation is that he got sick of mars for a while. Almost everyone does from time to time.

Also, it happened more than a year ago.

Reverse direction by pressing the down arrow and then quickly turning wings off. When you're flipped 180 degrees, turn wings on, it helps you by reversing your direction quickly, without losing much speed, and the direction you're going will be unpredictable.

When you're driving away, to prevent being shot, drive in a zig-zag, turning quickly by using your wings.

Don't be afraid to switch between having gyride on and off. At times, it's easier to dogfight certain people or in certain worlds with gyride on, and sometimes it's easier with gyride off.

Spacially memorize the world, and be able to navigate it roughly with your eyes closed, so you can play in 1-view as much as possible.

Sit in a comfortable position!

Use loops, and make unpredictable circles when you're flying. Just to make other people mad at your style. When you're playing another loop-de-looper, loop around them, and loop in and out of each other. This makes dogfighting without gyride easier.

If you have to say something, say something when you're in freefall, so it's harder to shoot you.

If you're in a game and they're doing nothing but talking, fly around anyway.

Watch Mad_Jax's NOOB DEFENSE videos.

If somebody is flying around in a jet, you have laser lock on them. *coughcoughhinthint*

I use  ESAF, WSRF or SERF (QERF in Fai's Atlantis) with my left hand, and use a mouse with my right hand. If I'm playing left handed, I use WASD with my right hand, pressing space with my pinky and shift with my index finger, and use the mouse with my left hand (adapted from lefty StarCraft playing style). When I'm using a trackpad, I use ESAF (QERF in Fai's Atlantis) with my right hand, pressing space with my index finger and clicking with my thumb, and using the trackpad with my right hand.

Umm...that's all I have for now.

1. master the red laser

2. master the red laser

 3. if you don't master the red laser you have no chance

4. don't shoot until you're moving faster and flying higher than everyone else

5. don't shoot until you're pointing at the enemy

6. once you start shooting, shoot as much as you can, because if he's being shot he can't shoot you back

7. don't stop shooting until everyone else is dead or surrendered

yes i did get sick of it about a year ago and left, and i think i did apologize for leaving on unpleasant terms. the overwhelming amount of noobs and rude players discouraged me and i was harsh. i am sorry, in case i didnt say that already.

moving forward rather than brining up the past, thank you to the others for the tips, some of which i had never thought of before!

best wishes and happy playing,

If you are using a trackpad, here are some steps on improving your aim:

1. Lie down
2. Try not to cry
3. Cry a lot
4. Get a mouse

It is also a very good idea to lower your mouse sensitivity. This allows you to aim easier and smoother.

The non-fun version:

Get a mouse and lower the sensitivity. Those are my tips.

Also, if you are using a computer that uses an operating system known as "Windows", you should practice taking the battery out of or unplugging the computer as fast as possible. Also, know where the power button is and be able to push it as fast as possible. This will maximize playing time between computer crashes.

And if you're using a Mac, be prepared to show off to everyone the useless product you just bought to express the amount of money you have.

*cough cough*

My humble opinion follows:

What you pay is what you get. So, I saved for 3 years for my new Apple machine. By buying an Apple product, I was getting the very best that was available. The idea that Macs are over-priced is crazy. Expensive, yes. Over-priced, no.

They're not, in any sense, useless. Pointless for most on the forum - there's no way many people who use macs actually need 2.7 ghz - but, as an avid programmer and artist, I regularly need the brute force that a mac can provide.

I am aware that you've got a custom-built machine, though, Abister. And I am also aware that yours would almost certainly smash mine on benchmarks. But, for people that just want an off-the-shelf high-end machine, the Mac is perfect.

1. the red laser is key. a fight between people who can effectively wield this tool means the quarry will be jumping from person to person very quickly. if you can't use the red laser, you will find yourself incapable of keeping the quarry for more than three seconds.

 2. quarry timer: this is an incredibly important feature of the gameplay that many people forget about. when someone new gets the quarry, he has a few seconds of invincibility to all lasers. instead of shooting right away, watch everyone else's lasers bounce harmlessly off the quarry's buggy so you can make the killing shot one second later. it makes you look like a pro when really you just understand how the game works.

 3. for new people, learn to keep up with the quarry before shooting the quarry. a lot of people try to rely on their good aim to win but that is not as important as your speed to keep up with the quarry and altitude to hit him. be higher, be faster, and then start working on your aim.

by the way... its been so long, is there a button for brakes? sure would be nice to be able to sit still when sniping instead of rolling downhill or idling over the edge of a platform!

The Windows Key.

But it doesn't work out that well because the Start menu pops up when you press it.

On the application, while it is starting, hold alt. Then you can change the keybindings to whatever you want.
