I recently downloaded, using iBooks, 1984. It is really scary. 
It is about a man who is trying to figure out what is happening in totalitarian Britain.
In my opinion, George Orwell's other book, Animal Farm, has a much better explanation on why totalitarianism is–obviously–bad for humanity. Therefore, Animal Farm is much better than 1984.
The second half of this post is about a book that I bought on amazon–still awaiting its arrival–called Cloud Atlas. Here is its plot:
The book is about 6 different stories. Each in sequentially future time periods starting from a story in 19th century, then 1931, 1975, 21st century, future, and a further post-apocalyptic future.

Each story is being read by by the main character in the next and each stops at the middle until we get to the last story, which is fully told. After that, the second half of each story is regressively finished until we get back to the 19th century.

This book was also made into a movie that will come out this october.
