I don't really have time to write an entire book summary here, but I have a recommendation... :P
I recently read a book called "La Nuit Des Temps", which left me absolutely stunned. The writing is beautiful, the theme is amazing, I believe it's probably the best book I've ever read.
Being bilingual, I read this book in French... But I believe it's called "The Ice People" in English. It's written by an author called "René
Barjavel", one of the best post-modern French writers in the world.

I'm not sure you're quite of the age to read it yet, you may struggle if you don't have a very good reading age, and I'm not sure thirteen is quite old enough...
But if you have a good reading age then go for it! :) If not, I would recommend you read it in a few years, so you'll be able to fully appreciate the style.
