Mars Explorer's Future is in Your Hands

As I observe the creative triumphs and hillarious squabbles of our wonderful Martian community, one thing grows increasingly clearer through the mists of passing time:

You friends are far more awesome that I had ever dreamed of when I started this project.

I'm not currently in a position to make any definitive statements about Syn3h, but I will be in able to do so within the next couple months. Should I be able to commit the time it so richly deserves, we will be working together on one of the coolest reality simulators ever created.

In the mean time, I offer a small gift in thanks for the inspiration that you have all been to me:

I just upgraded the project to Unity 3.5, and rewrote enough code to get it compiling without deprecation errors. You now have the culmination of all my work on Mars Explorer. Use it for good!
Quick word of caution: Any application you download to your computer has the potential to destroy your computer. Unity Webplayer games are perfectly safe, but you should think twice about running native game builds from random people on the internet.

To those of you who aren't currently as active as you once were, I completely understand! Chances are quite high that one day we will again be a community far larger, but even more closely knit, than ever before. I can't wait to see where Mars will go from here.

Thank you very much! This is such a privilege Aubrey, I am quite speechless right now. This is years of work being given away . . . such an act of kindness and love to your community! I wouldn't even be able to do such a thing.

I sincerely thank you, Aubrey. I look forward to Mars Explorer/Syn3h's future.

Thanks Aubrey! :)
Unfortunately I'm not able to check it out right now, as I don't have Unity 3 and my very old computer won't let me install it, but when I eventually get an upgrade in fifty years or so it'll be the first thing I check out. ;)

Aubrey, i hope you realize that you are a great man.  If  you don't, then you better realize it. NOW!!  even though i do not have much skill in unity n stuff, so i cant really do much with your very generouse gift, i just thought i would say THANKSZZZ YOU for making MARS EXPLORER!!!  this might sound very silly but this game has changed mah life.  I have learned many great lessons here that are applicable to real life and i would have not learned any of it if it wernt for MARS EXPLORER!!!!!

Hey cheezburger, why not practice Unity and learn about it? Search the mars forum and unity forum for help and stuff. Look at Abister's Tutorial on How to Make a World.

I may not be a real part of the MEx community anymore, and this may not change that. However, that can't stop me from expressing my real gratitude and surprise at your (Aubrey's) unexpected generosity. I will surely have to watch this site more to see what this starts.

Wow. I never expected this!
Ive been checking the Syn3h.com page for any new releses for the last year, and seeing nothing, assumed that Aubrey had abandoned the project. Recently I emailed Pointybagles about it and he pointed me here. This is great, and I cant wait to see what happens with the project!
Good work everyone!

You would need flynn's source anyways.

But yeah, couple a bot's lasers with your driving.

Uhhh... has anyone had this working in Unity 3? I have 3.5.7f6 and it's giving several errors of unknown origin... and I could fix them, but I'm curious as to why this is happening.

Error examples are : "Failed to connect to master server" and a SecurityException

I'm trying to fix them without modifying the code now. :(

That's because the code is not connecting you to anything of Aubrey's anymore.

Mmm, that I figured from the fail to connect bit. What I don't understand is the SecurityException.

Ugh, network code.
