Looks like a good start, but it would take about 5 minutes to make. Maybe a bit more originallity and realistic design?
Don't worry, I know how hard SketchUp is for a beginner :)

Obviously this does need work but it is a good start.  I have never made a vehicle in Sketchup but I have designed houses (mostly strange abstract ones).  I will post a picture! (maybe)

I kind of agree with Eric here... Where the vehicle? All this picture contains is the default Sketchup man, and a strange sort of cylinder thing...

Let's not get overly harsh people, it IS his first model.

But, yeah, try going over your idea again, and ad detail

I suggest adding a cockpit. Also, make it look less like a box.

There are no *sniff* boxes in it. Plus, if you drew a box around it, it would be a *puts on arrogant math teacher voice* rectangular prism.

If I may interject, I think this concept is wonderful. I've seen it done before in a robotics competition and in a future cars design competition. Good luck and I hope you pursue this. However, please add details to the wheels, I'd imagine this vehicle being able to go over some moderately bumpy terrain.

Maybe it could look more like this?:It could have those semi spheres on each end so that it couldn't get stuck on those flat edges
