I'm thinking of reviewing a few expectations of moderators.

I'd like to quash a problem before it takes total root, and update you all on the state of the forum rules.

First, the rules:
I've changed the title of the FORUM RULES to be FORUM ETIQUETTE, to make it a little less mean sounding and make it more of a mutual responsibility rather than some strict requirements. Hopefully there's no problem here.

I've added a rule and a mod guideline concerning old posts that have been revived or bammed up. Moderators will now Resolve/Hide/Remove old posts that are bammed up that have no relevance to the 'current state of CC.' Please do not do this, so we don't have to do much work.

SECONDLY AND MORE IMPORTANTLY:
The forum commenting system is being misused. This may sound extreme, but it is true.

REPLY TO DOCUMENT IS NOT THE SAME AS REPLY TO COMMENT!

I cannot stress this enough. When posts get huge, and half the people reply to comments with the "Reply to Comment" button, and the other half use the "Reply to Document" button, it becomes absolutely impossible to read! Click the right button! It's self explanatory! The forum rule, implemented from the beginning, is as follows:

Do you want to comment on a post? Be sure to use the "Reply to Document" button for replying to a post, and "Reply to Comment" to reply to an individual comment. This ensures everything is organized in nice, threaded commentaries.

Please try to follow the new and old etiquette.

Thank you,
~Totoro

REPLY TO DOCUMENT IS NOT THE SAME AS REPLY TO COMMENT!

This is so true. I have changed my viewing preference because of this. I used to use hybrid, now I use flat. This makes it a lot harder for a "no context" type comment.

My replying to your comment shows I'm replying to you. If I replied to the document, it would be a reply to Totoro's thread.

When you use the reply to comment the organization of the page changes.

Post
  ∟1st comment
        ∟Reply to the comment

Where as if you reply to a comment but you click the reply to document button the organization looks like this

Post
   ∟1st comment
∟Reply to comment, though it looks like a reply to the post.

The reply to comment button is there for the people who use the hybrid and threaded page layouts (selectable on the top and bottom of the comment section)

Hope this helps,
Nattyfrank

When I said document, I was implying all of the content types.  Please replace Document with; Document, discussion, picture, link, audio, or media.

Thanks

Wow, I did not notice that before. I had it on flat so I never saw any of this, good to know.
