If you're getting your butt handed to you, ask for help - don't bail...

I love this game, I really do - but what I don't like is how hard it is to find people who have the game down.
  • The flying is tough for a new player, but it's control is amazingly fun when you get the hang of it.
  • The targeting, takes a tactical mind (don't shoot where your target is - SHOOT WHERE HE'S GOING TO BE!)
  • The strategy of working against another player's strengths - is timeless.

Towards this end, I propose we find a way of training new players so that the veterans like us will have someone who'll be a challenge.

I'm fine with getting my ranking down - 'cause let's face it, if you kill me "YOU'VE. EARNED. IT!."

  • In the absence of any objections, I'd like to propose we set up times each week where more experienced players can train newer players in the intricacies and nuances that is Carbon Combat.

It's like any other art form - one must Practice, Practice, Practice. What say ye?

Cheers,

The GoodGuy

Yes, and yes.

I owe a lot of my success in this game to TheGoodGuy.  I would also sacrifice xp to help someone learn to be better.

The first thing these new guys need to learn is that you should always get the health powerup.  Bailing out of the car is just asking to be killed.

I haven't found very many new guys that need help. But if you guys arrange times for communal practice and help, I'd be glad to participate.

I like that idea, but it may be a bit hard to actually implement seeing as almost all newbies to this game do not visit the forum, and therefore would not actually know about this.

It would obviously have to be organised in-game. Basically just go up to some random player and ask him if he needs to be "trained"! (you'll probably look like a fool if you do that :P)

I remember hearing a while ago that CT had a full tutorial including waypoints set up but it was scrapped for the new, simple one that just shows key's commands the first time you play in green text while you battle. Why not just give an option for a full tutorial to sharpen skills for those who are interested?

Part of the fun is experiencing the game and learning from encounters with others. I think a simple tutorial to teach people the fundamentals of driving and flying is perfectly fine, but it should not be so specific that it replaces the necessity to play with others in order to improve.

That is tru, different people use different weapons with different styles for fighting, aiming, and flying at the same time. It would be extremly diffecult to to a full tutorial like that...
