Hey everybody, as you can tell from the title I need help with exporting maps (don't know how). I'm on Unity v3.4.1 (going to update later) and Whirld 4 (i've heard whirld 5 is glitchy). I'm done with my map and all but I'm stumped now. I also have another question; The WhirldBase is the spawn point but I want my map to be compatible with Marsxplr and CC so do I have to do anything extra? I also don't have Unity Pro and I think it was activated before and expired.

Edit: Removed download link for map and some notes.

You are not using the correct pair. Whirld 5 has some bugs, but mostly regarding the Path system. It is better than Whirld 4, which was sort of a beta. Secondly, Whirld 4 is only compatible with Unity 3.2, and Whirld 5 is only compatible with 3.3. Unity 3.4.1 is NOT compatible with any version of Whirld. You will need to download 3.2 Pro if you wish to export. You can get a free 30-day trial of Unity Pro on Unity's website. You may need to do some figuring out to get 3.2 Pro.

You can only add one spawn point with Whirld. You may, however, export the terrain as a .obj file and import it into the CC editor, where you may make multiple spawn points. (It will not be compatible with Mars Explorer if you do so)

I haven't updated my unity in quite a while so i may have one of those versions.  Let me check for you.

Edit: I found the 3.3 installer and I am currently zipping it into a compressed file (.zip)  I will put the link to it quite soon.

edit (2): The file is 444kb (ish) so it is taking forever to upload, I will post link tomorrow morning or afternoon.

Edit (3):Here is the link (hopefully) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/39596815/UnitySetup-3.3.0.zip

Your welcome, when you have it downloaded let me know so that I may take it off, using a lot of space.

Also, not deleting my downloads folder for the win!!  :D

Glad I could help, let me know if I can do more.

Think that is it.

After downloading the zip I found the zip file to be corrupt. I still got the file by altering this website I already had in my messages. http://download.unity3d.com/download_unity/UnitySetup-2.6.1.exe though it didn't work before (changed UnitySetup-2.6.1.exe to UnitySetup-3.3.0.exe). Thanks anyway.

Hey so everything is going well but as I suspected, Whirld 5 has some bugs.

For the record, Carbon Combat DOES support custom meshes in its own level creator. Just export as an .obj file. Textures of the OBJ are supported as long as they are in the same directory (use dropbox for file hosting) as the mesh file.

Hey so everything is going well but as I suspected, Whirld 5 has some big bugs. One is the WhirldWindow doesn't save the Sea and Floor preferences (it saves but reverts back to the previos preferences whenever I test out the map).

Strange. I just tried that and it worked perfectly. Could you provide detail about what exactly you do? (Push x button, do this, close window, hit y button...etc)

Well I dont really do anything, all I do is after I change the preference I click play to test out and when I go to the edge to test out the sea the floor is reset to 0 altitude. Also It keeps saying I need to "build" my scene by clicking File and Build settigs but I keep getting errors about the scripts not compiling (ythe red stop sign with ! sign). Also how do I make rivers with the Whirld path? I tryied but it just appeared as a circle of blue not a river.
Sorry about the questions if it's too much to answer.

Whirld Path is the place with bugs. In the Project view, search for the whirldloader scene. You need to drag that into the Build Settings along with your scene. The whirldfloor matches the bottom of the terrain. If you want the floor to be lower, lower the terrain altitude (Y measurement).

Since you want there to be two different spawn points, which is not possible when using Whirld in Unity, as Whirld was originally designed for Mars Explorer, which only ever has one spawn point, your best option is to export your entire scene as OBJ, then load that file into the Carbon Combat world creator :)

I'm done with my map and all (even added a river and an animated buggy) and I want to build it but I keep getting compiler errors. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything correctly. The build window. Am I doing it right? The compiler errors I keep getting.I have no ideo what to do. I want to build it because
  1. It keeps telling me to when I test it out.
  2. And I want to see what it will look like.
I'm going to save the pro trial until I have a bunch of maps and export them all at once.

You don't need to build anything unless you want a webplayer.

Be careful with scripts, like the animated buggy.

Look on the Unity window. NOT the build settings. On the top bar, do you see three buttons? Play, Pause, and something else. If you have _Whirld  and a Whirldbase in your scene, you can test out the world right in Unity! Just push the Play button. To pause, push pause.

After you are done, (lightmap and everything) then you need to package the world. (does not require Pro) After packaging all of your worlds, (separately) then you export as a .whirld or .utw file. (requires Pro)

This thread is pretty much done its purpose so I might close it. Maybe I'll put up a new world with all my worlds and their progress (already started a new world). Though I do have a question. If you want to start a new map do you have start a new project or just start a new scene?
