The thing about that is that most (If not all) Mods can't be trusted at the present moment. The only ones who MIGHT be able to be trusted are (Maybe) Fai and Flynn. And that might change if things keep going the way they are. The reason I PM'ed Aurbrey is because most of ya'll need, (A) To be talked to or (B) To turn down the heat to 50%. Thats why i PM'ed Aurbrey, And im sure im not the only who did (At least four people did)

Cav, mods hide things because its there job. They do it to clean up mars, one way or aonther your gonna have to see it. They have done nothing wrong, I gotta ask, you said I was making a mistake? A mistake on helping the mods, or a mistake to show you that your wrong?

Ehh, I'm a bit messed up by the recent attitude towards me. I feel as though I've done nothing wrong, and people just seem to be set in their ways that I have. Not a TON of people, but, a few. You probably know this feeling, I'm sure. After all, you've been bashed up quite a bit yourself recently.

I agree with what has been posted on this thread, when Aubrey is not there, the mods should indeed be in charge. To be honest, I think that the mods have been dealing pretty well with the problems Mars has been having recenntly, seeing as they don't have all the powers they should have, they've been doing pretty darn well with the powers they do have, preventing the community from completely falling apart.

 

 

To all the people who think it's clever to question the mods' authority and think it's going to earn them esteem: You're wrong, that's all you need to know, and you need to accept it.

You have to realise YOU are the problem, and YOU are the cause of the community falling apart.

Aubrey probably got depressed by this forum, so he decided to stop visiting it as much. I remember several months ago when he was gravedigging posts for older versions of mars, to show us how much mars has changed from the basic days. 

I think it stems mostly from the fact that you haven't been on in a while, and are not quite caught up on the issues.  Your behavior on the "No more policy" post went against the wishes of at least 3 mods (4 if achilles is a mod, I can't remember.)  In general I think it might have been better if you acted a bit less impulsively and found some context for why everyone was acting the way they were, because a sitewide arguement does not happen very often, and coming back to find one is I'm sure not the most pleasant experience.

 

In general, I think you probably understand more of the context now, so it is fine.

What if they have something useful to say, no? It's not as though these people were blatantly spamming quite like people like, uhh, what's his name... That's not a "bug" in the mod log, that's from before we had stickied posts and Achilles wrote a script to "bam" a post to the top any time it was bumped down. Then we got stickied posts and we didn't have to deal with that anymore.

This post had to of been made to start some kind of big argument for thats what the content of it shows. No more telling me I don't know what im talking about for I have a head and I actually use it. Im tired of taking being insulted to the face of this community by everyone here and if what im doing isnt good enough to have stopped immediatly, then your gonna have to learn some patience and if you want it done. help out!

 

I am not starting an argument and I will not stand for this anymore. I will not get involved with the mods but I will continue to try and work together with them ONLY IF they feel they are ready to get rid of there stubborness and grow some dignity and respect for there community without Aunrey not being here.

 

Aubrey will most likely not come on for a very long, long time. Its time that we care for ourselves and not have someone take care of us anymore. I mean Aubrey and the mods. The mods job is to keep the community clean and THAT IS ALL!

 

Aubrey is here to enforce the rules and want us to follow them. Read anything Aubrey wrote about the mods and the newly enforced moderation system by him and you will see everything. Aubrey is the only one who tells us what we can and cannot do and the mods are just to repeat hiw words not make up there own.

 

Aubrey is not answering us and there for if the mods can't clean there community then its time the community starts making some actions to clean it up themselves since we are the ones arguing and wanting something done about the madness here.

 

So, community action should take some effect to clean this place since the mods refuse to do it right.

I see Cav's and Chamberlins point. I haven't found a single spot were Aubrey says that the Mods are supposed to make their own rules. But I DO know what mods are supposed to do what's best for the comunity by cleaning up spam and such, and just setting guidlines as to what IS spam is just a method to make things cleaner.

What I find silly about this whole thing is that people are being so one-sided. Moderators decide to take action against a bit of noobyness, and now all of a sudden it's everyone vs. cavcom and chamberlain, and friendships are being torn apart. The mods and what they do isn't as horrible as those against them seem to think, and what those against them do isn't as horrible as what everyone else seems to think. I mean, this really is all over some somewhat spammy comments.

I think, Abister, the point is, everyone kind of IS against her. The mods have gone through stages where they hide perfectly valid comments, using auto-hide code, and very few people listen in a meaningful way to what she has to say. Lots of people seem to be perfectly willing to tell HER to open HER eyes. But, no one seems to try to open their own, and, just for a moment, switch sides. See things from HER perspective. See things how she sees it. No, not an outside observer of it, but someone who is actually on that side. No one tries to be someone who DEFENDS her points. If you try to defend a point of view you do not personally agree with, come up with facts supporting it, and not denying it, it can be an eye-changing experience, and no one really seems to have TRUELY done that for her. People need to give her a chance to truly explain her point of view, and try it out. That I think is what she wants.

Agreed, but, I think that no fights is too much to ask for lol. It's possible, but, asking for it isn't going to do anything :( The people in the middle of the fights have to truly want, and strive for, less fights. And that means being nicer to the people they dislike lol. Anyone who chooses to be nice to their enemies, and choose not be made angry by the enemy's inflammatory words, will become immune to all of this.

OOh I don't think people will do that. When we fight, we all want reassurance form the outside. We want to know what outsiders think about what we are saying. Or, at least, that's how it is with me typically when I am fighting. Doign these fights in public is like a discreet way of asking people to share their opinion. Also, some what more based in logic not psychology: these fights typically involve more than two people, having a 3 way PM conversation is tough stuff.

 

I see your point, and yes, I think PMing this stuff would prevent it from turning into wild massive wars, or at least, stop it from being perceived as that way. But I think in some respects, people, if they are going ot fight, WANT, even if subconsciously, it to be a massive fireball.
