A short and dirty tutorial

I've made a tutorial.
Find it all here :

Tutorial was made using the freeware applications Google Sketchup and Instashot.

I am working on a Google Sketchup model where all the info is in the model itself, so that you don't have to swap between applications, but can do it all inside Sketchup.

It should be ready within a few hours from now.

I will upload it to the 3D warehouse and put a link here when it's done.

Happy modeling!

Wow, that was great! One thing you may want to mention, however, is to explode the pentagon's curve before you start copying and pasting.

This prevents the lines from not "sticking" later on if you continue to play with the model. :)

Looking good :-)

I never had problems with the unexploded curves though.
- Maybe I'm just lucky?

When I did what I was doing in the pic (rounded corners plugin!), the overlapping lines, which are counted as curves, didn't stick.

I love rounded corners plugin, but I didn't try it on this model as I like it "Edgy".
Right now I am working on a similar design for a 3D printed lamp, only it will be much more elaborate.
(A Pentaxorb with all the trimmings, INSIDE another pentaxorb)

Actually I am thinking of using the same idea to produce an outboard cockpit for a space fighter.
Something like the cockpit in a Tie Fighter.

Oooo sounds nice. You could actually make that as part of a huge starship, crashed ships' ruins, etcetera. Those would make nice worlds.
